There are few better days in the Irish events calendar. Thousands of women took over the streets of Dublin for this year’s Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, and we spent it behind the cameras — capturing live video for the big screens and mixing the pictures as the day unfolded.
We worked alongside Mongey Communications, who delivered the event’s big screens, with our own Ian Smith on vision mixing duty. The best event days are collaborations, and this one is a favourite: a brilliant crowd, a big occasion, and pictures that genuinely matter to the people watching.
No second takes
Live event video is a craft of its own. A finish-line moment happens exactly once. The job is to be in position, hold the shot, and switch between camera feeds with the rhythm of the day — so the person on screen is always the story. Done well, the screens become part of the atmosphere, carrying the emotion of the finish line to every corner of the crowd.
